About Us
Changchai Co., Ltd. is a listed company that was established on May 6, 1994 through shareholding restructuring based on Changzhou Diesel Engine Works. Originally founded more than 90 years ago in 1913, our enterprise is the first manufacturer in China which specializes in producing small power multi-cylinder and single-cylinder diesel engines. Our company consists of five branch factories and three majority-owned subsidiaries. Our total capital stock amounts to 374,000,000 shares, of which 40.93% is state-owned, 2.69% is held by juridical persons, 29.66% is traded A Shares and 26.72% is traded B Shares. In 2003, our total assets were valued at RMB1,951,000,000 including equity of RMB792,000,000. In 2003, our company witnessed an operating revenue of RMB1,543,000,000 and a profit of RMB61,450,000. We are staffed with 3,600 registered employees.
Occupying a land area of 490,000 square meters, our company has set up three diesel engine production bases and one foundry base in Changzhou and the city's outskirts, which are equipped with a high-pressure air impact molding line introduced from GF of Switzerland. Our company has an annual output capacity of 40,000 tons of castings, 100,000 sets of multi-cylinder diesel engines and 1,500,000 sets of single-cylinder diesel engines. We have well-established marketing networks, including 60 sales service centers and 8 sales branches. Our export sale is up to USD10,000,000 annually. In addition, a state-level enterprise technical center and a postdoctoral working station are founded in our company. Some advanced testing and inspection equipment are introduced from AVL of Austria.
With the power output ranging from 1.5kW to 70kW, our products can be used as power units for hand tractors, transportation vehicles, construction machinery, electric power generators, water pumps, ships and boats, and agricultural machinery. The registered trademark of "ChangChai" is accredited as a well-known trademark by the State.
For the coming stages, our company will make adjustments on shareholding structure, market composition and product mix through technical cooperation and introduction of foreign investments. Vehicle diesel engines of 2- to 3-liter will be developed in a bid to achieve further expansion in the market of vehicle power units. Interested manufacturers and companies are welcome to establish joint-venture or cooperative relationships with ChangChai by bringing in products, technology or investment to jointly develop the market of vehicle diesel engines all over the world
